High Notes in The Looking Glass

Overcoming obstacles may seem too much to consider; too tough to deal.  “It’s summertime Nikki, there’s no pressure; only vacation frolic and mindless enjoyment.  We’ve got to take time to turn off the brain, right?”
I get it.  I also get the electronic version of several news feeds.  “What does that mean dear?”  Just as information flows automatically – on autopilot – so your brain works constantly.  Sometimes it may appear dormant but it is running programs in the background.
“Are you insinuating we’re mechanical?” Are you touchy this morning lovely word moderator?  If you could get a little feely we’d have something to talk about.  No, please run in the background – preferably away from this area so I can finish what I started; completing a thought or two for my readers.  So dear moderator put a sock in it or better yet take fifty cents out of petty cash and buy some ‘be quiet’.
Where was I before the interruption?  Oh yes, overcoming is something we do every day.  Do you realize you deal and successfully with obstacles at least daily.
Obstacles come in various forms and flavors.  Some evolve from the debris of the past.  Everyone has baggage – history – but that is what defines you; makes you what you are and who you are.  Some of that history is not desired to be regurgitated.  But we’d never give it up because we can’t lose the bad without losing the good.  And the good converts from raw memories to fuel for the engine of personal progress.
That’s right, setbacks cause reflection.  Interesting word ‘reflection’. Our words, deeds and actions act as a mirror. Do you hesitate to cast your gaze towards the psychological looking glass?  Afraid of what you might see?  Not ready to learn something about yourself that may cause recoil.
I don’t like everything I see in aforementioned reflective device.  I use these teachable moments to see myself how others are viewing me.  Borderline unsavory at times.  Not in that way dear readers.  I mean in ways that cause me to want to do better next time.  Yes regret can gray over the brightest of colors.  If you are willing to work to improve, the gray won’t cast its shadow more than briefly.
Let’s begin the new workweek on a high note.  Be the best you can be in as many instances as you can.  You’ll have more positivity to metabolize.  Emotional fuel is so important.  Overabundance and you will feel giddy and will probably be at peace with your world.  A deficit will create drag, headwinds, resistance.  You’ll struggle to stay focused on the current goal.
Have a wonderful day and cast a genuine smile upon your world.  Watch the sun shine – the willingness of others to share your pleasant nature.  Flowers will bloom in your path and your wake will be painted with rainbows.

Love and hugs, Nikki DiCaro
