Monday morning and the weekend of
independence has passed. Three or four
days of unbridled enthusiasm for a cause that resonates with all. As nuanced as life can be, the weekend is no
different. A weekend of independence or
independence weekend; the subtlety can be lost in translation, right? Apply liberally to all affected areas three
times a day. Does independence salve the
tiny cuts from the thorny issues infiltrating our daily life? Does the bramble, that stubborn undergrowth
that lurks under the canopy of shade we afford ourselves by branching and
leafing, catch an ankle or wrist?
Something pains you throughout the
day. When even song finds its way into
our heart we settle in front of the vanity mirror and while plucking and
shaping the brow’s definition we notice a remnant of the day’s struggles. Extraction delivers relief.
Extraction comes in many forms;
physical being one. Emotional / mental
is probably more relevant and sometimes more difficult. Unlike physical, there’s nothing to touch,
grab, discard. The non-physical seems to
be the more determined, stickier, less responsive and sometimes systemic.
Write a reprieve. You are the judge and jury, the governor or
whichever official you choose. Exercise
control over outcomes. Independence is
fleeting if you allow it to slip through your fingers. You can determine the chemical composition of
your flavor of independence. It does not
have to carry the consistency of mercury.
It does not have to measure up or compare favorably with your friend or
neighbor’s version of the twelve-letter word.
You are a sympathetic person;
exhibiting caring for others. Time to turn a season of sympathy inward. Accept a compliment graciously. Learn to say “Thank You” and smile. No need to self-deprecate. Friends pay compliments with no expectation
of repayment. Watering down the term of
endearment detracts from the message.
For once you can believe what is directed to you. Bask in the glow. Compliments are bricks, paver stones,
aggregate or whatever material you utilize, on your road to nirvana.
Go lithely, life’s burdens do not
have to weigh heavy on your shoulders or your heart. Give yourself permission to jettison. Press the eject button and feel the burden
lift.
Now beautiful person, off you go to
skip lightly and carefree through your day.
Love and hugs, Nikki DiCaro
