Ever think of yourself as
indispensible? Maybe you’ll dismiss the
thought. Do you find this line of
questioning a waste of cyber ink? Should
we look at relevance instead? It is too
easy to overlook, bypass, fail to acknowledge.
We’re all susceptible to the easy way out.
Thinking we’ve jettisoned, disposed
of, or ejected, we move to the next hot topic, the next shiny object. Refusing to accept, to see the reality of
life at the moment of epiphany, may deprive us of the opportunity to appreciate
the fact that we are appreciated.
Nobody is indispensible. Those who believe they can’t be replaced are
wrong. Don’t believe me? Take a bucket of water and place it on a
level surface. Roll up your
sleeves. Place your hands in the bucket
until your palms rest on the bottom.
Count to ten. Okay that’s long
enough. Retract your arms. Are there holes in the water? I didn’t think so.
Okay we’ve resolved that
question. That does not doom you from
being destined to be loved, appreciated and cherished. You make a difference in the lives of those
who are open to you, to your beauty.
Finding that person or those people may take time, more time than you
believe exists.
“Why are you taking us down this
rabbit hole dear?”
Because I’ve been there. I’ve struggled with relevance. Oh sure, I have my share of professional
importance. You know, when people seek business
counsel the line outside your office seemingly endless. But when you are alone, when the workday
fades and you are no longer the center of attention, how do you deal?
Part of my problem occurred when I
tried to relate to those who inhabit the conventional world from which I came,
the one that was ordered, expecting me to live the body and the associated
life. The herculean effort to conform
almost wasted the best part of me, the part of me that was nascent, that I
didn’t know was vibrant. The part of me
that was alive although it was in suspended animation.
Then it came; the opportunity to
emerge from the cocoon. You know the
feeling. Exit one room, enter
another. There waiting are people like
you. No not conventional. Relevance comes into focus. Life begins oddly far away from physical
birth. I learned that physical birth and
emotional birth are not always connected.
No matter. You can’t go
backwards. So now what? Go forward.
You have the opportunity to establish your relevance. It’s up to you. Take the baton. Raise it high. Feel the essence of life coursing through you
like electricity.
Be yourself. Allow yourself to be relevant; to be
important, to be impactful. You have the
vitality. All you need is the resolve.
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Love and hugs, Nikki DiCaro
