People make the world go
round. You’ve heard this phrase and it’s
been incorporated into prose and song lyrics.
If people make the world go round, friends infuse colors, hues depth and
meaning into our part of the world! That
bears repeating and phrased differently.
Things may begin as black and white but how ordinary and uninspiring
without friends who care for us, love and invest their energy in monitoring our
well-being.
Yes, friendship has been a regular
guest on our program. Why not? Reiterating important things is akin to rote
memorizing. I’ll bet you remember
portions, if not all, of passages, poetry, pledges, prayers – and so on and so
forth – that were drummed into you during the formative years.
I’m not auditioning for a musical
part in the percussion section of your life.
I’m advocating for revisiting the mortar, glue or other useful adhesive
that creates the monolithic effect of the different building blocks of your life. Without a bonding agent walls would crumble,
bricks could be plucked from an otherwise solid wall leaving holes and the
potential for permanent damage to the structure of your life.
Be PROUD of what you’ve
created. My friends from Robert Wood
Johnson University Hospital know the reason for capitalizing the second word in
the prior sentence.
Are you PROUD? Do you Promote Respect, Outreach, Understanding
and Dignity by your words and actions?
Examine your utterances but don’t stop there. Nuances say as much about us as our
dialog. Don’t stop at being comfortable
in your skin. Help others get
comfortable in your aura. Yes aura, the
field of energy radiating from your essence.
It’s up to you. Nobody can “make” you do anything. That’s not to say doing nothing will have no
impact on others. Think about it. I’m sure you’ll find a few kernels of
knowledge in these words.
Keeping it short and hopefully more
sweet than bitter I bid you a wonderful day.
Love and hugs, Nikki DiCaro
