Jump Street.  There’s a term that will date someone… Feels like we’re at Jump Street sometimes.  All the progress feels like running in sand, or worse.  Progress is slow.  “Tell me something I don’t know.”
Your point is well-taken.  You don’t need me to state the obvious.  I’ll try to refrain from straying into that well-worn patch of brown that was once lush, green virgin lawn.
For those who split hairs, lack of progress is evidence, a finding, reportable and actionable.
“Huh?”
Don’t worry, it took me too long to grasp the concept.  If you fail to progress along a path, maybe you’re on the wrong path.  Walking in circles is similar.  At the end of the circle – or is it the beginning – you have not advanced but you did enjoy cardiovascular activity.
Do you walk the same path daily?  At the culmination do you feel uninspired?  Yep, been there more than I care to recount.  What remedial action do you employ?  You don’t step on the board with the nail standing proud a second time expecting the nail not to puncture your shoe.  You don’t strike your thumb again with the hammer or watch the same movie expecting a different ending.  I could go on because I have many personal examples.
If you learn from history you won’t be doomed to repeat.  Yes I know exploration is better left to the intrepid.  Too late, you are a charter member of that sorority.  Life will present obstacles.  Every river has a low point and narrows.  You don’t need to ford the river at the rapids.  So what if the journey includes a detour that takes you out of the way?  If the lengthened travel leads to a bridge isn’t that better than attempting to cross when life and limb may hang in the balance?
“There you go Nikki stating the obvious.”
That wasn’t so obvious to me therefore I have concluded, possibly erroneously, that there may be another sister who needs a compass and a map.  If not, there’s always the ‘delete’ button.
I encourage you to plot a path on your life map.  The destination is not important, but progress is.  You may know where you want to end up.  If not, you should at least ensure you are enjoying the journey.  Passing the same places can make even the most precious memories stale.  It’s your journey; enjoy it and open yourself to novel experiences.
I hope your Tuesday brings something new and possibly exciting, if your constitution can handle it!

Love and hugs, Nikki DeCaro
