Days will come and days will go that much is certain. Everything else is up for grabs. Life is in play everyday regardless of how
consistent and monotonous the world appears.
Think about your slice of the world; the microcosm of the macrocosm. How
many moving parts does it take to make a machine run? How complex is the machine?
Right! If you live a
complicated life, expect things to become hairy at times. Why do we refer to things that are
challenging, different or difficult as having hair? Alas I digress.
If you want simplicity, then remove elements of the molecule
that is your life. Do you want or need
forty-seven electrons spinning wildly around your nucleus? That means you have forty-seven protons
drawing these components into orbit around you.
Maybe that’s what adds flavor, spice and diversity. If you require that many moving parts, keep
the toolbox close at hand because something will break down. The law of averages (I know, I didn’t study
law either) delivers that eventuality.
We’re cruising into Thursday – or in some geographies we are
trudging. Will winter release its grip
on the region? Eventually, because
inevitability is a standard ingredient to life’s recipe – I can’t vouch for any
other additive.
Which Thursday is it for you? I’m not going to throwback,
I’m going to look ahead. You never know
when that item you jettison might command a collector’s attention on an auction
site.
Seriously, I’m good with Thursday being Thursday with no
embellishment. I’m back to
simplicity. Leaving complicated
decisions to others can be therapeutic.
Clear your mind of the clutter – go ahead and create a listing on one of
the “items on sale” sites. It’s comforting
to have open areas through which you can stroll without clipping a shin or
stubbing a toe on a once important but eventually forgotten dust collector.
I’ll admit my mind sometimes replicates the attic of my
aunt’s turn of the century Victorian.
She very rarely goes there but waxes nostalgic about all of the
heirlooms safe and secure in the company of cobwebs and the occasional
multi-legged creature meandering through.
Yes I grasp at normalcy.
The brass ring is suspended tantalizingly out of reach as the carousel
turns and the painted ponies rise and fall I don’t always succeed in securing
the prize. But I maintain composure
(most of the time) and refuse to relent.
Try and try again. This isn’t a
video game that has limited opportunity to succeed. This is your life and no matter how simple or
complex, you can make something special out of every moment. Don’t be deterred; that would be admitting
defeat and such a conclusion would be a shame.
Embrace the good memories, expel the bad and replace them
with more of the cherished nuggets that shine like gold.
Love and hugs, Nikki Nicole DeCaro
